In the Event of a Snow Storm

In the event of a predicted snow storm coming into the Mariposa County area parents and students need to be aware of the different methods that Mariposa County Unified School District employs to notify parents of School day cancellations or bus delays.

If there is a delay or a cancellation you will receive a call from the district transportation department. Always consider the latest call made as the most current information. Many times there is a delay called and then the determination to cancel school is made and a second call is generated.

Additionally we use TV Stations: KSEE 24, KFSN 30 and KJEO 47 as well as radio stations: KMJ 580AM, KISS 93.7FM, KUBB 96.3FM, KAAT 103FM, KABX 97.5FM, and KYOS 1480 AM

Some Students are At-Risk!

Parents should be watching the Post Office Boxes for letters next week from the school regarding students who are at-risk of not meeting the district and state standards for promotion. Teachers are checking roll books and each teacher will be writing the parents of students who need to work a great deal harder to earn passing marks. Parents may also check their child's grades everyday on-line by visiting our web page and following the easy instructions. Passwords and student code numbers are available from your child's advisory teacher. We go to great lengths to keep parents informed of their child's progress.

Halloween is Coming!

While children at the Middle School age still enjoy celebrating the Halloween customs there are a few guidelines that we need to enforce.

NO MASKS! This is a safety concern so painted faces are fine but please no masks.

No Gore! We cannot have the bloody look on campus.

If in Doubt -Leave it out. A few years ago a high school in Oakhurst had a problem with students dressed as Nazi's and KKK members. Clearly this is not appropriate for school.

The Dress code must also be followed. So please help you child select an appropriate costume that is in the spirit of the holiday without creating a problem for the school.

Happy Halloween!
