Important Information for 8th Grade Students

One of our eighth grade requirements is passing a Constitution test. This test consists of three parts: memorizing the Preamble and reciting it in front of the class, writing an essay about the Constitution and later in the spring a multiple choice test about the parts of the Constitution. Eighth graders in Ms. Gallagher's room are currently memorizing the Preamble to present next week. The essay part of the test will be given before the holidays. Please help your child memorize the Preamble this week so he/she will be ready to present Tuesday or Wednesday, Nov. 23 and Nov. 24.

This year eighth graders will be able to attend a three-day, two-night trip to Yosemite on Feb. 9-11. This is a terrific trip which is supported by many classroom activities. The Yosemite permission slips were sent out today. Please read the permission slip and return it before the holidays with $100. After the holidays it will cost students $120 for the trip. More information will be provided as we return from the holidays. Thank you!

Veterans Day

On Thursday, November 11, 2010, the faculty, staff and students of Mariposa Middle School will be joining the rest of a grateful nation in honoring true heroes--The American Military Veteran.

The brave men and women who have worn the uniform of this country for more than 230 years have protected our freedoms from being taken away by a despot.

On Thursday, November 11th, we will close the school to allow the students and thier families to attend any one of many patriotic salutes to these gallant heroes.

School resumes on Friday, November 12th.
